The House Burrito

The House Burrito

Spanish, On Dad's WatchThis Friday our kids campaigned hard for dinner at “El Burrito Jr.,” a local Mexican food stand favorite.

“Why don’t you order in Spanish?” I challenged our son.

“Dos burritos de frijoles y queso por favor.”

“Wow!” I said proudly. “What did you order?”

“Two bean and cheese burritos,” he said.

“Let me try,” said our daughter, whose Spanish skills at this point are strictly by osmosis.

“Dos burritos de frijoles y casa.”

Our son laughed. “You just order two bean and house burritos.”

“Oh…” she said sheepishly.
