Spotlight on Happy Dance Space Rhythmic Gymnastics Camps and Classes

Happy Dance Space, Rhythmic GymnasticsWith the Olympics coming up this summer, there is a renewed interest in many Olympic events.  This year the USA has a chance to medal in Rhythmic Gymnastics, and the popularity of the sport has been growing in the United States. We recently met Bebe Iontchev of the Happy Dance Space Rhythmic Gymnastics and Dance Camp, together with Pavel Tabutov they direct a new Rhythmic Gymnastics program in the South Bay, we asked them a few questions to find out more about thier programs!!

1. Tell us a little about your program
Rhythmic Gymnastics & Dance Camp is all about developing physical fitness, strength, flexibility, agility, balance and eye-hand coordination for overall well-being. Kids will learn and perform body drills and skills such as: balances, pirouettes, pre-acrobatics & other rotations, and jumps/leaps, all of which are part of the gymnastics Code of Points and seen in a lot of different dance styles. In addition, students will have fun learning Rhythmic steps and character movements from ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, ballroom, folk, etc. in the company of MUSIC and tricks with the rhythmic ropes, balls, hoops, clubs, ribbons and other alternative interesting props.

2. What do kids love most about your program?
Moving with the music, playing with the equipment, dancing a variety of styles, cartwheeling, choreographing, smiling, having all of their questions answered authentically and being in a safe, welcoming space where they can be fully self-expressive!

3. What is unique about your program?
This is the only rhythmic gymnastics program offered between Orange County and Santa Monica! We focus on aiding children and young adults in their physical, mental and social development and allowing them to have fun and be free with their imagination and creativity, while being self-disciplined. In addition, we educate our students in correct terminology, history, anatomy, physics, math, communication and nutrition. Most of all, we develop a personal plan for each of our students in accordance with their goals and family dynamics, to let them flourish into the stunning professionals they want to be or just reap the benefits of dance and rhythmics while growing.

4. How can parents find out more?
Please email or call us and we’ll be more than happy to provide all information that is needed: HappyDanceSpace@gmail.com (424) 258-4507.  You can also connect with them on Facebook.

5. Have you worked with any of the athletes participating in this year’s Olympic trials/games?
Yes! We have both instructed Laura Zang and some of the Rhythmic Gymnastics National Group Team girls in Chicago, where they train year-round. We are so proud that they qualified for the Olympic Games and are excited to watch them on TV. Tune in with us to see the grace and beauty that predominate each Cirque-du-Soleil style routine!
