How to Succeed in Business

Curtains Up! Community Theatre presents “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,” a fun, irreverent musical about J. Pierpont Finch, a young window-cleaner that uses advice from a self-help book to help propel himself from the mail room to Vice President of Advertising at the World-Wide Wicket Company. Since its original run on Broadway fifty years ago, the musical has been nominated for 20 Tony’s, winning nine trophies, and is only one of eight musicals to have ever received a Pulitzer Prize in Drama. Earlier this year, the most recent revival of the show on Broadway received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theatre album.

Curtains Up! Community Theatre was formed 22 years ago to provide opportunities for the youth of the South Bay to participate in theatre, receive quality instruction at an affordable price, and bring quality family entertainment to the community. All the performers in this show are incoming 7th graders through outgoing high school seniors.

The production is directed by Paula Dawson, with musical direction by Kathy Pate and choreography by Makenzie Gomez. The cast features Kevin Shang as Finch; Hanna Hilden as Rosemary Pilkington, a secretary at the World Wide Wicket Company who falls in love with Finch; Nicholas Bradfield as J.B. Biggley, the president of the firm; Nicole Powell as Hedy LaRue, Biggley’s attractive and dim-witted sweetheart; Price Morgan as Bud Frump, Biggley’s arrogant and lazy nephew; and Holly Gould as Smitty, Rosemary’s best friend and fellow secretary at the company.

The rest of the cast includes: Gabrielle Arregoces, Ian Axberg, Lauren Axberg, Ryan Axberg, Brennen Bates, Gabriella Brabham, Maren English, Evan Falstrup, Sabrina Feniquito, Stephanie Grant, Lucas Grenda, Matthew Hansen, Lauren Hickey, Carlos Holguin, Arisa Iwaki, Gillian Kalmey, Caroline Knapp, Jared Lebental, Rosamaria Marchione, Kit Morgan, Colette Moss, Kelsey Roche, Katie Shewfelt, Kate Sover, John Szieff, Ashley Trutanich, Emily Van Volkom, Claire Williams, Natalie Wussler, Julianna Yonis, Austin Young and Ashley Zoeckler.
