Day Sixteen of 20 Gifts In 20 Days

Look in the sky!  Is it a bird?  Is it a plane?  No, it’s a boy!

Those are the opening words from the award winning, beautifully illustrated children’s book The Global Game Changers.  Written by mother-daughter duo Jan and Rachel Annette Helsonm The Global Game Changers (GGC) tells the story of an amazing fictional superhero team, Global Girl, Little Big-Heart, and their trusty dog, Pixel, who search the world looking for real-life kids that are doing good things for others to join their team.  Their goal:  To fight apathy, represented by a dark cloud named Krumi, and to inspire kids to make the world a better place.

GGC is more than just a story, it’s a movement.  The “Ignite Good!” maxim encourages kids (ages 4-10) to choose the charities and every day initiatives that they want to support and then use their passions and real-life superhero powers to impact the lives of others for the better.  The hope is to inspire a young generation of givers that can answer a new set of questions, what’s your favorite way of giving back, what charitable initiatives are you passionate about and what talents do you have that can help others, just as easily as they could tell you their favorite color, favorite subject of favorite sport!

The authors believe these stories are exceptional, but that all children have superhero powers that can “Ignite Good!”  For this reason, at the close of the story, readers are invited to join the “GGC Alliance” at the  There they can create a superhero avator, share their “Ignite Good!” stories, check out Badge Central to learn about different types of charities they can support and use the Ignite Good! Tool Kit to start fundraising.  The can also purchase GGC superhero capes, listen to the hot new “Welcome to the Game” theme song written by the famed musical team, Paul Buckley and Jack Diamond, whose credits include work on Seinfeld and Will & Grace, and check out the global map to read stories of other GGC superhero kids just like them.

Jan Helson is a successful and innovative business woman and dedicated philanthropist.  Rachel Annette Helson, is an actress and the youngest Tony nominated producer in Broadway history, and serves as illustrator and co-author for GGC.  Learn more at
