Day Nineteen of 20 Gifts In 20 Days

Day Nineteen of 20 Gifts In 20 Days

Illustrated children’s book and DVD introduce simple yoga postures to children. Using the alphabet, rhyming vignettes, and fun illustrations, each pose in The ABCs of Yoga for Kids delightfully promotes flexibility and coordination, while encouraging kids ages three to eight to incorporate healthy activity into their daily lives.

To further encourage children to reap the many benefits of yoga, Teresa Anne Power has also developed her DVD titled Yoga Adventures with Down Dog: A Yoga Alphabet Playdate that takes her efforts to teach yoga to kids to a whole new level. Children will delight in singing yoga songs, practicing simple yoga poses, and using letters of the alphabet to have fun and feel great while simultaneously reaping the many significant benefits of practicing yoga.

It is well known that yoga yields significant mental and physical health benefits. What is not as well known is that this fact is as true for children as it is for adults. Today’s children tend to be over stimulated as they strive to keep up with the demands of our fast-paced society. Practicing simple yoga postures is the ideal way to naturally unwind and obtain physical activity at the same time.

Yoga not only develops flexibility, coordination, focus, and strength, it also helps children become calmer and more self-aware. This means that yoga benefits not only the child who delights in team sports like volleyball, basketball, and soccer but also the child who prefers individual sports such as tennis, dance, or the martial arts. Yoga, a non-competitive form of exercise, is suitable for children of all ages and athletic abilities.

Lyrical explanations of yoga poses from A to Z and enticing illustrations make this a kid-friendly book grown-ups will enjoy as well!
