Thanks so much for addressing this. Not enough people are aware of PCIT and its benefits yet. I have also seen the wonderful outcomes of the exercise. PCIT just 5 minutes a day between a parent and child can completely transform the bond between them.

In fact, you may find the video that is posted here helpful. This is a demonstration of PCIT in a training lab that I recorded at Encompass in North Bend, WA. Unlike any others that I have seen, a real child is engaging in real PCIT.

Our two-week sessions allow campers more time to explore their chosen specialty and further develop their new-found skills. Whether it’s a concert from the Rock Star campers, a fashion show from the Fashion Institute stylists, or a stunt show by the Hollywood Stunt crew, each child will participate in something special!
Campers attending two or more weeks can CHOOSE to do a different specialty each week or enjoy the same specialty each week!

I agree that play is so vital to a child's development. My daughter gets upset if she doesn't have time to play for at least an hour after school. She really needs that time to decompress.

And I hear you on those one-hit-wonder type toys! They are rather disappointing. Our son (11 months old) got many lovely toys for Christmas but his favourites are the egg timer (because its 'ding' it random when he plays with it) magazines (shred!!!) and the old metal container for cooking utensils (makes a marvelous sound when you bang on it).

Thanks for the great article!

Hooray!!! I found you :) It's the Leigh from Mom's Group...way back in the day! The kids and I want to
take a trip to Hawaii for early summer 2012, but I have never created such a trip on my own. Can I
come visit you to learn the ABC's of travel arrangements? You look beautiful--glad I was able to see
your face so I could make sure it was YOU! If you still have my phone number (the 529 one) I can
respond to calls quicker than emails. I live in the dark ages of technology and check my email only every few days...sorry :( It will be great to catch up. L.
