+1 For the Humans

+1 For the Humans

A few weeks ago I lost my precious iPhone. Did I say “lost”? It was mercilessly STOLEN from my office! The deranged purloiner had the audacious cruelty to call me from my very own device and gloat.

Despite my anger I turned the event into a teachable moment for our kids, opting for the “not all people are like that” approach as opposed to promoting “the world is a cold, cruel place” mentality.

This week, I’m proud to score +1 for the human race, courtesy of my better half who lost her iPhone in the local Trader Joe’s grocery store. Within minutes I got a call from my new pal Philippe, a worker at TJ’s who saved us 500 bananas.

I know some people might say, “Why don’t you guys just take better care of your stuff?!” and to that I say, “What fun is that????” No seriously, I’d agree. However, until LisaBelle and I work our way up the ladder of “adulthood” I’ll continue to leverage our possession challenged adventures to mold a positive outlook on life in the minds of our young ones.

So while on a family trip this weekend I delivered the tale of Mom’s near mishap, our hero Philippe (whom I rewarded with a few bunches of Trader Joe’s bananas), and of course the moral of the story, which by their smiles likely translated to, “Why don’t you guys just take better care of your stuff?!”
